Master of Business Administration with Health Services Administration Specialization

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Health Services Administration is designed for middle-level professionals and others seeking advancement in their current careers. The MBA degree requires 33 to 66 credits of course work (depending on a student’s prior experience and education) in business core and business electives, and may be completed on a full-time or part-time basis. Curriculum for the program includes:

College of Nursing and Public Health

Adelphi University began as Adelphi Academy, a private preparatory school, founded in Brooklyn New York in 1863. In 1963, The New York State Board of Regents granted the college university status and the name was changed to Adelphi University. The Adelphi College of Nursing and Public Health prepares qualified caregivers and leaders to make an impact in their community. The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at Adelphi University prepares students with the skills and knowledge to work in a variety of settings in public health careers. Graduates of the Master of Public Health program are prepared to assume key roles in public health organizations as managers, researchers, educators, advocates and directors. They will ultimately provide leadership in creating and implementing programs and policy that promote the ideals of public health. Master of Science in Health Informatics

The Master of Science (MS) in Health Informatics expands student’s information technology knowledge for future career opportunities in the medical informatics field. Founded by Jesuits in 1870, Canisius College is a private institution located in Buffalo near Lake Eerie and the Canadian Border. Online Master of Science in Health Information Technology

The School of Education and Human Services online Master of Science in Health Information Technology is designed for those individuals with a bachelor’s degree currently working within healthcare, technology, healthcare policy, public health, or related fields. The online master’s in healthcare management program combines principles of healthcare, business, and information technology to advance healthcare professionals knowledge of the increasingly complex healthcare processes. The 38-credit healthcare master’s program can be completed entirely online with no residency requirements on campus. The College of Mount Saint Vincent is a private Catholic liberal arts college founded by the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1847. It has a total enrollment of 1,649 students located on the 70-acre campus. Master of Business Administration with Concentration in Healthcare Management

The 60-credit Master of Business Administration (MBA) program is comprised of the following:

  • Thirty credits of business core curriculum requirements to ensure students of the masters program have familiarity with the fundamental areas of business practice and competency to apply professional skills considered to be the baseline for persons entering careers in management or entering a program of advanced study.
  • Eighteen credit area of specialization, from Management and Organization Behavior, Health Care Management, International Business, or the Comprehensive Business Track.
  • Twelve credits of capstone courses in business strategy, professional ethics, and global issues. The final curriculum component involves an applied business project.

The Healthcare Management concentration prepares students for management positions in a variety of healthcare agencies for positions associated with the traditional business functions – such as finance, management of human resources, marketing, public relations, quality control, customer relations, and budgeting.

Master in Public Administration with Concentration in Long Term Care

The 42 credit-hour Masters of Public Administration (MPA) program prepares students for a career in public service. Students gain essential skills and knowledge needed to lead and manage public and non-profits organizations. Curriculum for the program includes management and leadership, organizational theory, public policy formulation, communications theory, human resource management, budgeting and finance, and program evaluation. This program provides the theoretical background, practical experience and the training necessary to enter public service careers at the management level. Within the Master of Public Administration program is a specialized track in Nursing Home Administration. Students in the MPA program who choose this track will be dually enrolled in the NYSED-approved advanced certificate program in Long-Term Care Administration as a specialization. Requirements for Long Term Care Specialization include choosing three of the following courses: Management of Human Resources, Introduction to Gerontology, Budgeting and Financial Accounting, Nursing Home Administration and Healthcare Ethics, Law, and Policy. This specialization is designed to meet the requirements for the New York State Board of Nursing Home Examiners Course Requirements for Licensure as a Nursing Home Administrator. In addition to these course requirements, candidates are expected to meet eligibility standards of the Board of Examiners, pass a licensure examination, and complete a supervised AIT (Administrator in Training) Internship. Prospective students are advised to consult with the New York State Board of Nursing Home Examiners to determine eligibility.
