The Institute for Health Informatics provides education to students and conducts research in biomedical and health informatics. The curriculum is focused on designing, implementing and evaluating information systems that support and help improve Healthcare as well as protecting the confidentiality of those receiving care. Executive Master of Health Administration

The program combines online and on-campus coursework with the majority of coursework online. Students spend only 28 days on campus over 25 months, taking no more than two courses at a time. The program builds the practical application of learning to the student’s organization allowing them the ability to develop and introduce innovation into their organizations. A capstone project is required for program completion.

Master of Public Health in Public Health Administration and Policy

The forty two-credit Public Health Administration & Policy (PHAP) Master of Public Health (MPH) program focuses coursework on managing organizations to influence policy in improving population health. The program is specifically designed for those students interested in careers in government agencies, nonprofits, or private health care organizations seeking to advance public health. Students choose between four specialty areas to tailor the curriculum to their interests. This program prepares students to:

  • Lead, manage and evaluate public health programs and agencies

The Executive Master of Public Health offers a flexible curriculum to fit your career with online classes available for the core curriculum, with elective options online or in person at the Public Health Institute. The program is specifically designed for those health professionals with advanced degrees including MD, DDS, DVM, PharmD, Ph.D., MS, or public health professionals with significant work experience that have already completed a Public Health Core Concept Certification. There is a wide variety of electives to choose from to specialize the MPH to fit specific career goals. Goals as stated by the University for completion of program include:

Graduates of the Master of Public Health in Public Health Informatics (MPH-PHI) will have the skills and knowledge designing, developing and managing public health information systems including:

The Master of Science in Health Services Research, Policy & Administration (MS-HSRPA) program focuses on the research and analytic methods underlying evidence-based decision making. Students gain knowledge and skills in managing health-related data, such as electronic medical records, surveys, and health care claims. The MS includes two tracks:

  • Plan A is a two-year 49-52 credit hour program (Outcomes Research) with a focus on the development of the skills essential in participating in research environments. Coursework allows students the knowledge to conduct studies examining the effects of healthcare treatments and the organization on patients and outcomes in society. By collecting and analyzing data they will be able to determine what works best for whom under what conditions. This track is geared for those seeking to conduct and publish research-level studies examining health care treatments and interventions. The program can be completed in tow years and requires 49-52 credit hours for completion.
  • Plan B is a one-year thirty four-credit program (Health Intelligence & Analytics) and is available in either an online or in-person format to provide flexibility in learning style. The Health Intelligence and Analytics track allows students the skills and knowledge to analyze and address health services questions from practitioners and researchers. This track prepares graduates to work with clinicians, executives, and policymakers in order to translate data into organizational intelligence and evidence used to improve organizational performance and outcomes in patients. Plan B focuses on helping managers, clinicians, and policymakers answer questions requiring rapid response using available health care data.
