The Master of Science in Health Services Administration at the University of Wyoming is offered almost entirely online. Students are required to travel to Laramie once during their first semester and once during their last for a weekend intensive. The program is a non-thesis degree but requires a final project that is coordinated between the advisor and the student. Students may choose from the following concentrations:

The program at the University of Wyoming is geared toward new and mid-career pharmacists as well as other healthcare professionals who wish to move into leadership roles. Students gain an understanding of patient safety, regulatory compliance, clinical research and health outcomes. It is a 30-credit hour program and students may complete it in two years of part-time study. A comprehensive final exam is also required.
An online RN-BSN is also available for aspiring nurse managers. While the exact amount of time to complete the program varies based on the level of education already reached, students can complete the program in as little as one year.
About the University of Wyoming
When Wyoming was still known as a territory, the Ninth Territorial Legislature implemented a tax on all property in the territory in an effort to create an institute of higher learning in 1886. The legislature allotted $50,000 to begin construction of what would become Old Main. The school opened in 1887 and, as was befitting for what became known as the “Equality State,” women were admitted from the start. In 1890, when Wyoming became a state, the University of Wyoming’s location was included as part of the state constitution.
In 1917, the University created a Rural Demonstration School in order to provide students who were studying to be teachers how to run a rural school. This was the start of Wyoming’s public school system and the University is credited with its roots. As more students were educated in the rural schools, attendance at the University grew. In 1920, the legislature allotted additional funding to the school from oil wells located on University property.
Like many colleges, the University struggled financially during the Great Depression and all expansion was placed on hold. The outbreak of World War II added to the financial difficulties as enrollment dropped when men and women left to serve in the war effort. In an effort to remain solvent, the school added military training on campus. After the war ended, however, enrollment grew significantly as soldiers returned to take advantage of the GI Bill.
Today, more than 12,300 students attend the University of Wyoming. It is a nationally-recognized research institution and has been rated a top-tier school at an excellent value. Students attend from all 50 states and 59 percent of the student body are from Wyoming. The school offers 80 undergraduate and 90 graduate programs as well as study abroad options in 50 countries. The elementary education program ranks fifth among 781 colleges according to a teacher-focused website.
The EIC’s Shell 3-D Visualization Center has the only four-walled 3-D Cave Automatic Virtual Environment (CAVE) in Wyoming, enabling scientists and engineers to visualize and interact with highly complex data. The lab combines high-resolution stereoscope projects and 3-D computer graphics to create a virtual environment.

University of Wyoming Application Requirements
In order to apply for the Master of Science in Health Services Administration, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in any field and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in undergraduate studies. Applicants must supply an official transcript from all colleges and universities attended, a personal statement and a current resume.
University of Wyoming Tuition & Financial Aid
Tuition for Wyoming residents for the MS in Health Services Administration is $650 per credit hour. Out-of-state residents pay $825 per credit hour.
Financial aid is available in the form of grants and scholarships. Currently, the school has the ability to apply for over $42 million in scholarships and students are able to obtain funding to study abroad. In fact, the school has the largest scholarship endowment to study abroad in the country. MoneyRates.com ranks the school as one of the lowest cost four-year in-state colleges in the country. Students may also be offered loans as part of their financial aid package but must undergo financial aid counseling to confirm they understand the repayment process.
