Pace University is a private university based out of New York City. The school was founded in 1906 by brothers Homer St. Clair and Charles Pace. The original goal of the university was to teach co-educational business classes. The first class had 13 students. Today, Pace University has more than 13,000 students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees.

Pace University Accreditation Details

Pace University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. This accreditation approves all undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs. The Lubin School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

All of the school’s programs are also registered with the New York State Education Department. Pace University is also a member of the American Council on Education, the Association of American Colleges and Universities, the Coalition of Urban and Metropolitan Universities, the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity and the University Professional and Continuing Education Association.

Pace University Application Requirements

Undergraduate applicants to Pace University can complete the online application. This application must be accompanied by a $50 application fee. Along with the online application, prospective students must also provide a number of supporting documents. Official high school transcripts must be mailed to the university. Students must provide two letters of recommendation from teachers and/or administrators. They must also write a personal essay. All students must complete either the SAT or ACT and provide those scores to the university as well.

Any student who completed college coursework while in high school should have those additional transcripts forwarded to Pace University to determine if the credits are transferable.

Students can attend Pace University without intent to complete a degree. These students may be interested in taking only specific courses to help with a healthcare management career. Non-degree seeking students can take up to six credit hours per semester. These students must apply in person. They must also provide all transcripts at the time of the application.

Tuition and Financial Aid

The cost of tuition for full-time undergraduate students at Pace University is approximately $44,000 per year. In addition, students must pay standard fees, books, and room and board. Any student who wishes to attend Pace University on a part-time basis will pay $1,282 per credit hour.

Students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid in order to determine need. Pace University provides grants and scholarships to those students who demonstrate need in addition to any federal grants that the students may receive. Along with these grants, Pace University offers merit scholarships. These scholarships are not based on income but on academic performance and ACT or SAT test scores. The average amount of aid received by a Pace University student is roughly $25,000 per year.

There are a number of other scholarships that are offered through Pace University. These scholarships are greatly varied in both scope and size. One such scholarship is the Barnes and Noble Book Scholarship, which is an award worth $500 that is given to 10 students and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Another is the President’s Scholarship. This award covers the full cost of tuition for four years or until the undergraduate degree is completed, whichever comes first. This scholarship is merit-based and renewable each year as long as the recipient has good academic standing. Along with the many other scholarship options provided through Pace University, the school encourages students to apply to outside awards in order to offset the cost of tuition and other expenses.

The cost of pursuing an MBA or master’s degree through the Lubin School of Business is $1,305 per credit hour. A doctoral degree in business is $1,344 per credit hour. Other degrees, such as those in the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences or the College of Health Professions, vary in cost depending upon the specific degree being sought. Pace offers graduate assistantships, scholarships, and grants for those who qualify.
