Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration

Through the Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health, Loyola University offers a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration that prepares students for careers in management and healthcare delivery systems. About Loyola University

Loyola University was founded by Father Arnold Damen, S.J., as Saint Ignatius College in 1870. The school opened at 1076 West Roosevelt Road and, in 1910, became Loyola University. In 1912, a ten-year process of relocation began to move the school to the Lake Shore Campus in Rogers Park. A downtown campus was established in 1914 but was eventually relocated to Near North Side in 1947.

In 1923, The Chicago School of Dentistry merged with the university while the school's medical and dental departments moved to Maywood in 1969 to create the Loyola University Medical Center. The School of Sociology, which eventually became the School of Social Work opened downtown in 1914 and it was this school that admitted women for the first time.

Today, there are 17,007 students enrolled at Loyola University in programs with a strong Jesuit focus.

Loyola University Application Requirements

Applicants for the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration must provide official high school transcripts as well as official ACT or SAT scores. One letter of recommendation is also required. Applicants who have earned college credit after high school graduation must provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Those with 15 credits or fewer must also submit official high school transcripts along with with ACT or SAT scores.

Applicants for the Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management must have seven years of relevant professional experience in the healthcare industry. The must provide a statement of purpose and official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. One must display the conferring of a bachelor's degree or higher. Two letters of recommendation are also required along with a current resume and official GRE or GMAT scores.

Loyola University Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition for the Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration is $352 per credit hour. Tuition for the Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management is $4,488 per course which covers textbooks, case studies, nutritious meals, snacks and beverages during class along with a global immersion trip.

Financial aid is available and all students should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify. Students should complete the FAFSA, which must be renewed annually, regardless of income as some need is merit-based. Undergraduate students may be offered grants, scholarships or loans to cover the cost of tuition. Those attending on campus may also be offered work-study programs. Graduate students are offered loans to cover the cost of tuition but may seek grants or scholarships from outside organizations. Those attending on campus may also be offered assistantships or fellowships.
