Florida State University has 17 colleges that offer over 340 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees throughout a wide variety of disciplines. Florida State University also hosts an honors program.

Students who wish to pursue a career in health can obtain an array of degrees and certificates from the College of Medicine or the College of Nursing. FSU’s College of Medicine caters to students who are seeking an advanced curriculum in health-related studies. The health management policy and information major consists of courses that are taught by exemplary professors who are well-versed and knowledgeable in their professions. Students can choose from two options within this program, the first is health information technology and the second is public health administration and policy. A certificate in health information technology is also available. The core curriculum is centered around scientific experimentation and capstone courses where students will engage with their community.

FSU College of Nursing is extremely competitive and is only open to the most elite prospective students. The MSN nurse leader program is designed to prepare future nurses for the challenging role of being in resource management and nursing leadership. Through immersive clinical experiences and practices, nursing students are exposed to potential roles as nurse managers, quality specialists, and direct care clinicians as well as project manager positions. The MSN Nurse Leader program indulges in real-world opportunities so students are well rounded and disciplined for their future careers. About Florida State University

Florida State University was founded in 1851 and is one of the oldest higher education facilities in the state of Florida. More than 40,000 students are enrolled at the university and they represent 131 countries around the world as well as every county in Florida. Florida State’s campus is sprawled across 1,673 tropical acres. The main campus is located in Tallahassee and is a modest 485 acres. Out of the 2,000 faculty members, six of them are Nobel Laureates. In 1823 the first plans for Florida State University were set in motion. By 1825 the Federal government chose two Floridian flagship townships and reserved them for the implementation of an official university. By 1854 the Florida Institute was founded in the city of Tallahassee. Florida State’s first campus started out as a school for boys only and became co-ed in 1858. From 1857 to 1863 FSU was originally named the Florida Military and Collegiate Institution and was considered a training facility for cadets during the Civil War. Due to this piece of history, Florida State University adopted an army ROTC Cadet Corps program. FSU officially received its name of Florida State University on May 15th, 1947. Throughout the 1950s, the university continued to develop and expand. The Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Music, and Education were the first to be established. The first official Ph.D. was awarded in 1952 under the Department of Chemistry. In 2001, the College of Medicine opened with its 30 students. By 2005 the Office of National Fellowships was inaugurated. Florida State University produced three U.S. Rhodes Scholars between the years of 2006 and 2009. This was an extremely historic breakthrough since no other university in the country achieved this during that time span. From the years of 2010 to 2015 Florida State University was designated one of the most efficient universities in the entire country. FSU was also deemed the most accommodating for Veterans.

Florida State University received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Florida State University’s Physician Assistant program has been granted ARC-PA accreditation at a provisional status.

Florida State University Application Requirements

Florida State University’s College of Medicine requires unique application submissions for each of the programs offered. Basic requirements include satisfactory testing scores, official transcripts, and a $30 application fee. Basic application requirements for the College of Nursing include a personal essay statement, official transcripts, an in-person interview, and a completed application.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Florida residents who wish to participate in the College of Medicine have estimated tuition of $65,333. Students who are from out-of-state can expect tuition of $88,667. Physician assistant students taking courses on the main campus who reside in-state will pay a tuition of $10,467.68 per semester and physician assistant students taking courses on the main campus from out of state will have a tuition of $13,967.68. All medical students, as well as all nursing majors, will have to pay a medical or nursing equipment fee. The medical equipment fee is $345 per semester and the nursing major equipment fee is $10 per semester.

Florida State University has several campus locations. Tuition on the main campus for an undergraduate student who resides in-state will be $215.55 per credit hour and for an out-of-state student taking courses on the main campus, tuition will be $721.10 per credit hour. Graduate students taking courses on the main campus that reside in-state can expect tuition of $479.32 per credit hour. For graduate students taking courses on the main campus who reside out of state, tuition will be $1,110.72. Scholarships and grants are usually awarded to 47% of undergraduate students at FSU with an average amount of $16, 556.
