About Capital University
Capital University originated on June 3, 1830, when the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Ohio began the German Theological Seminary for an inaugural class of six Christian men. Twenty years later, Rev. William M. Reynolds received its charter to organize a college called Capital University. In Spring 1876, Capital acquired its present 53-acre Franklin County home three miles from Columbus. Coeducational since 1911, it merged with the Hamma Divinity School in 1978 for Trinity Lutheran Seminary. Capital University Accreditation Details
On January 24, 2017, Capital University satisfactorily submitted the Five-Year Interim Report to the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) for keeping Level V accreditation valid through 2022 under its 16th president, Dr. Elizabeth Paul, who received the Ernest A. Lynton Award for Faculty Professional Service. Headquartered 357 miles northwest via Interstate 70 in Chicago, this grand 19-state Great Lakes Region accreditor is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to assess Capital’s 66 baccalaureate, 23 master’s, two doctoral, and seven certificate offerings. Specifically, the School of Management has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) since 1999. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) also completed an on-site accreditation evaluation on April 4, 2011.
Capital University Application Requirements
Starting at Capital University is classified “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s because 2,889 of the 4,208 Fall 2017 applicants were victorious for just 68.6 percent acceptance. First-year Crusaders marching into the Business Management Major (B.A.) are evaluated based on college-prep secondary curricula. The Office of Admission looks for four English, three Math, and three Science units at least. The Class of 2021 achieved a median 3.52 GPA. On average, freshmen present an 1170 New SAT, 1622 Old SAT, or 25 ACT grade. Transferring into the School of Management necessitates a minimum 2.5 GPA and good social standing during 12-75 attempted credits. The Capital MBA seeks four-year bachelor’s graduates who verify three or more years of experience. Cumulative GPAs over 3.2 in the last 60 credits are preferred, thus waiving the GMAT. Master of Science in Nursing cohorts need to culminate CCNE- or ACEN-accredited training with “B” averages or better. Unencumbered Ohio RN licensing is prerequisite along with two courses: Statistics and Research Methods. Non-native English speakers are welcome with a 600 TOEFL pBT, 100 TOEFL iBT, or 7.0 IELTS score.
Capital University has a freshman admission period of October 1st to May 1st. Business Management Major (B.A.) transfers have until August 1st for Fall or December 1st for Spring. The School of Management set Capital MBA trimester deadlines of April 1st, July 1st, and November 1st. For 2018-19, Capital University is billing full-time Business Management Major (B.A.) students $17,573 per term or $35,146 annually. Taking under or over 12-18 credits costs $1,172 each.
