On June 22, 2017, California University of Pennsylvania satisfactorily submitted the Monitoring Report to the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) to continue the Level VI accreditation through the 2019-20 evaluation visit under Provost Bruce Barnhart, EdD, who received the Foundation’s Dixonians Award of Service Excellence. Located 324 miles east via Interstate 78 in Philadelphia, this special six-state Northeast Region accreditor is authorized by the U.S. Education Department to review CalU’s 195 academic offerings. Further, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) approved the MBA in Healthcare Management in 2018. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) also reaffirmed the MSN in Nursing Administration & Leadership on March 25, 2013.
California University of Pennsylvania Application Requirements
Enrollment at California University of Pennsylvania is classified “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s though 2,820 of the 2,909 Fall 2018 applicants were okayed for 97 percent acceptance. First-year Vulcans seeking the BS in Health Science must hold a high school diploma or GED certificate. Four years of English plus three years each of math, science, and social studies are required. The Class of 2022 achieved an average secondary GPA of 3.11. Mid-range admitted SAT scores were 930-1140. The middle 50th percentile had ACT scores of 16-22. Transfers are test-optional for individuals who’ve completed at least three college courses graded C or better. Foreign learners still need a minimum 61 TOEFL iBT, 3.5 ITEP, or 5.5 IELTS score. The Office of Graduate Studies seeks four-year bachelor’s completion with GPAs above 3.0. The MSN in Nursing Administration & Leadership mandates an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing for RN licensure. The DHSc in Health Science & Exercise Leadership requires a minimum 3.5 GPA and two years of experience.
California University of Pennsylvania conveniently has a rolling admission policy. Applying at least 10-15 days before semester courses begin is best. Current start dates are August 26th for Fall, January 21st for Spring, and May 18th for Summer. The DHSc in Health Science & Exercise Leadership has a firm October 1st deadline though.
