The University of Alabama (UA) is one of the oldest and largest universities in Alabama and is often referred to as “The Capstone”. With an enrollment of 33,602 for the fall semester of 2012, U.S. News and World report ranked The University of Alabama among the top public universities in the country. The College of Health Sciences at UA prepares students to contribute to the improvement of healthcare in Alabama. With courses designed to improve the quality of healthcare, graduates will contribute to the ever-changing industry. University of Alabama ranks first for enrollment of National Merit Scholars among public universities of Alabama for 2012-2013 with 241 scholars. This ranking places UA fourth among all universities.

Master of Art in Health Studies

Areas of studies included in this program are management of healthcare systems, human resource management, ethics, finance, marketing and operations management. Completion of this program qualifies students to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam. The CHES certification is the only mechanism for demonstrating competence in Health Education in the United States. A MAHS prepares those graduating from the program with a strong foundation in healthcare and its implementation. It propels students into a prosperous and rewarding career in today’s current healthcare management field.

University of Alabama-Birmingham

School of Health Professionals

University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) is one of three institutions within the University of Alabama System. UAB offers 140 programs of study in 12 academic divisions. The School of Health Professionals (SHP) enrolls over 1000 undergraduate and 1000 graduate students. Programs provided by the School of Health Professionals are providing the necessary information for successful transition into healthcare industry.

Master of Science in Health Administration

The Master of Science in Health Administration (MSHA) prepares students for top-level management positions in the health science field. Students are trained for these positions throughout many areas of the health care field. Courses cover health care marketing, financial management, operations management and understanding healthcare regulations and how to implement them. With one of the most widely respected, US News and World Report has ranked this program fifth in the country.

This program can be completed in either a residential program setting, designed for students who have recently completed their undergraduate studies. Or it can be completed in an Executive MSHA, which is geared for working professionals who have five or more years experience in the healthcare industry.

Columbia Southern University

School of Business

Columbia Southern University (CSU) is an online university based in Orange Beach, Alabama. There are more than 270 full time faculty and staff at Columbia Southern University. The school has reciprocal agreements with University of Northern Alabama and Waldorf College. University of North Alabama

The UNA College of Business

The University of North Alabama, located in Florence, is the oldest four-year public university in Alabama. In 2007, US News and Reports ranked University of North Alabama as a top tier public university in the Southern Masters category.
