Upon graduation from the program, graduates will have the skills to deliver an education to a variety of audiences in a health care or service setting.
  2. The concentration in Gerontology program prepares students to address the physical, emotional and cultural needs of the elderly and the human services, economic and legal factors that influence them. Graduates of the program will have the skills to balance strategy with the human side of aging while adding positive value to the care your organization provides.
  3. The concentration in Informatics program allows students an in depth view of informatics as it applies to health administration. Managing clinical information and patient records has become more complex and essential than ever before. The regulations and standards of maintaining, storing and utilizing this information continue to grow and are significantly more important than ever before in improving patient care. Students of the program are provided coursework including essential resources and methods needed in making effective decisions in order to optimize the acquisition, storage retrieval and use of information in a health care environment.
  4. The concentration in Sustainability Management explores the challenges faced by health care organizations as they create an environment focused on sustainability. Coursework provides students with an understanding of sustainability, assessing institutional practices, supporting behavioral change, organizational leadership, and exploring innovation. Economic topics include financial implications, economic analysis of sustainable goods and resources, as well as measures collaborating with external programs and services. The program will help to explore the impact of technology, regulations, societal and community interactions, and use of evidenced based knowledge to support environmental sustainability. Master of Business Administration with Concentration in Health Care Management

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Specialization in Healthcare Management requires a minimum of 51 credits, which may come from a combination of required and elective courses. Coursework includes a basic understanding of todays health care organizations and delivery systems. Students examine the historical evolutions of the health care industry and recent changes that influence the delivery of healthcare. MBA students also are provided an overview of the health information systems information systems used in the health care industry. The effective use of data requires an understanding of how the data is captured as well as the HIPAA and security issues related to this confidential material. The concentration in healthcare management explores and analyzes current ethical issues including insurance statutes, biomedical research, and demand management. Students learn about the legal aspects of legislation, patient rights, data security and professional liability.

Master of Health Administration/Master of Business Administration

The dual Master of Health Administration and Master of Business Administration (MHA/MBA) program provides students with the skills and knowledge for success in the healthcare/medical industry by providing essential business knowledge and industry specific skills. Coursework focuses on finance, policy, research, technology, human resources, economics, marketing and strategic planning. You will also learn how to identify, analyze and solve complex problems. Students of the dual degree program can also choose an area of specialization including:

  1. The concentration in Gerontology provides students the skills needed to dynamically respond to the changing health care industry and in-depth knowledge of business management practices. Coursework for the program addresses the physical, emotional and cultural needs of the elderly and the economic and legal factors that influence them. The MHA/MBA in gerontology requires a minimum of 70 credits for completion of the program. The concentration in gerontology includes the following 3 credit courses: Management, Human Capital Management, Health Law and Ethics, Healthcare Policy and Organizational Leadership.
  2. The concentration in Human Resource Management provides graduates with the tools to respond to the changing health care industry as well as in-depth knowledge of business management practices. Students study the basic concepts of human resource management with coursework providing understandings of the way businesses operate. The MHA/MBA in Human Resource Management requires a minimum of 70 credits for completion. This concentration includes the following 3 credit courses: Human Resource Law, Recruitment and Retention Practices, Organizational Training and Development, Research in Human Resources and a Human Resource Capstone.
  3. The concentration in Informatics provides students with the essential skills and knowledge needed to make effective decisions in order to optimize the acquisition, storage retrieval and use of information in a health care environment. The MHA/MBA in informatics requires a minimum of 67 credits, which may come from a combination of required and elective courses. Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Health Administration

The Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Health Administration (MSN/MHA) dual degree program provides nurses with combination of advanced nursing and healthcare related business skills needed for careers managing in today’s healthcare delivery systems.
