Each August, the Owen Graduate School of Management led by Dr. Eric Johnson admits 12-month, multi-disciplinary cohorts for Vanderbilt University’s 30-credit Master of Management in Health Care that blends eight-week evening courses with a Korn Ferry consulting project. Ranked sixth by The Economist, the MBA Health Care Concentration follows a 62-credit, AACSB-accredited curriculum advised by Dr. Timothy Vogus with the Medical Center Immersion, Healthcare Improvement Group events, and Accelerator orientation. Directed by Dr. Rick Watters, the 37-credit MSN in Health Care Leadership offers RNs a part-time online format on Blackboard with three-day Nashville blocks each semester and two practicum placements like St. Thomas West Hospital. Vanderbilt University Accreditation Details

On December 7, 2017, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Board of Trustees gave Vanderbilt University the best possible review when renewing the Level VI accreditation through 2027 under its eighth president, Dr. Nicholas Zeppos, who received the Insight Into Diversity Giving Back Award. Located 252 miles southeast via Interstate 24 in Decatur, this esteemed 11-state Deep South accreditor is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to evaluate the merits of Vanderbilt’s over 200 academic programs. Particularly, the Owen Graduate School of Management was reaffirmed by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 2017. On June 16, 2016, the MSN received five-year approval from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The School of Medicine was last visited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) in February 2013.

Vanderbilt Application Requirements

Admission to Vanderbilt University is labeled “most difficult” by Peterson’s because only 3,487 of the 32,442 Fall 2017 applicants were successful for competitive 11 percent acceptance. Post-grad Commodores entering the Master of Management in Health Care must have culminated 120+ credits in accredited bachelor’s majors. Having at least five years of relevant clinical experience is desired. Over one-third of each MMHC cohort of 30-35 has advanced degrees. Standardized tests are wholly optional and minimum grades aren’t listed. However, the MBA Health Care Concentration has a median 3.3 GPA and 680 GMAT mark. Non-native English speakers have an average TOEFL iBT score of 101. The School of Nursing reserves MSN spots for bachelor’s grads of ACEN- or CCNE-accredited colleges with valid state licensure. Exceeding a 3.0 GPA in prerequisites like Human Anatomy, Microbiology, and Statistics is mandated. The MS in Applied Clinical Informatics seeks 24 months of related experience and “B” averages. Most MS in Clinical Investigation entrants are Board-eligible MD or PhD alums.

Vanderbilt University set round deadlines of May 1st, June 6th, and July 31st for the Master of Management in Health Care. MBA Health Care Concentration cohorts apply until October 19th, January 9th, March 11th, and April 29th. The MSN in Health Care Leadership has rolling admission with a November 1st Early Action deadline. MS in Applied Clinical Informatics entrants must file before April 30th yearly. The cutoff for the MS in Clinical Investigation is February 28th. Accordingly, log into the Graduate & Professional Admission portal for the $95 ($50 for MSN) application online. Tuition and Financial Aid

For 2018-19, Vanderbilt University’s Graduate School had a general tuition of $1,967 per credit. Master’s students paid a $478 activity fee each term. Twelve-month medical insurance coverage was $3,162. Textbooks cost around $1,500 extra. However, program-specific prices varied greatly. The MSN in Health Care Leadership billed $1,556 per credit or $57,572 total. Master of Management in Health Care cohorts spent $56,150 overall with a $4,500 materials fee. The MBA Health Care Concentration comes with a $61,154 annual attendance estimate. MS in Applied Clinical Informatics students cover $43,763 first-year and $14,588 second-year tuition. The entire MS in Clinical Investigation curriculum currently costs $55,968.

According to the NCES College Navigator, the Office of Financial Aid disburses $176.94 million combined for 65 percent of Vanderbilt Commodores to set sail with median assistance of $39,717 each. Graduate funds include the E. Graduate assistantships pay off tuition with supplemental stipends of $14,000 to $30,000 for part-time work.
