The Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Management is an online program intended for practicing medical laboratory scientists looking for advanced their education. Students can complete the program either full or part-time. The program provides a practical perspective on operating the daily aspects of a clinical laboratory. The core courses include: Clinical Immunohematology and Transfusion, Human Blood Group Systems and Principles and Methods of Antibody Identification, Blood Procurement and Blood Product Manufacturing, Blood Bank/Transfusion Service Operation, Principles of Laboratory Management, Quality Systems and Regulatory Issues, Health Care Informatics, Issues and Practices in Human Resource Management, Method Comparison and Process Validation, and Management Project. The program requires a total of 45 semester hours and takes one to two years to complete. The program along with work experience prepares students to take the diplomate in laboratory management examination administered by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification.

The Master of Science in Health Systems Management is intended for students seeking to make a difference in the lives of patients, families, and communities. The program is offered either full or part-time and takes 21 months to complete. The program requires the completion of a total of 58 credit hours. The required courses include Health Care Organization and the Patient Experience, Human Resources Management, Health Informatics, Health Care Economics and Patient Systems, Statistics for Health Care Management, Health Law and Ethics for Health Care Managers, Health Policy, Organizational Analysis and Change Leadership and Lifelong Learning, and Managerial Epidemiology. The program is available part-time online and takes about two years to complete. A total of 37 credit hours are required to complete the program. The core courses include: Applied Epidemiology Biostats Nursing, Healthcare Economics, Policy, Finance, Health Promotion in Individuals and Clinical Populations, Advanced Pathophysiology, Advanced Pharmacology, Advanced Health Assessment, Organizational and Systems Leader, and Clinical Leadership and Project Development.

Work Study

The Federal Work-Study program is available for eligible students who demonstrate a significant financial need. Students are able to work both on and off campus to earn money to help pay for college expenses. Throughout the program, the federal government pays about 75 percent of the wages and the remainder is paid by the government’s hiring department. Students are paid every other week and the pay is at least the current federal minimum wage.
