University of the Sciences
The Mayes College of Health Care Business and Policy
The University of the Sciences is a private coed university located in the Spruce Hill section of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. Total current enrollment is 2,339 students on the 35-acre main campus and offers bachelor’s, masters, and doctoral degrees in pharmacy in and other health-related disciplines. Master of Science in Bioinformatics
The curriculum for the Master of Science in Bioinformatics emphasizes the way information is stored, transformed, and utilized by living things including the analysis of biological sequence data, including sequence assembly, and identification of genes, analysis of gene structure, prediction of expressed proteins, and identification of functionally important sequences in both nucleotides and proteins. Coursework includes the prediction of three-dimensional structures of proteins and nucleotides, pharmacogenomics, proteomics, microarray data analysis, and modeling of metabolic pathways. Graduates of the program will have the following competencies:
- Core understanding of the fundamentals of molecular biology, genetics, and biotechnology necessary to comprehend and critically evaluate the contemporary scientific literature for Bioinformatics and other disciplines
- Understanding of theoretical and computational concepts underlying current Bioinformatics practice, in particular concerning sequence analysis, computational genomics, and data mining methods
- Core proficiency in software development in a variety of computer languages relevant to bioinformatics as well as show competence in web-centered application development
- Effectively communicate both in writing and oral presentation
The Master of Science in Bioinformatics degree requires completion of 30-33 credits and can choose from two different tracks for specialization, a biotechnology track or a computational track.
Master of Business Administration in Pharmaceutical and Health Care Business

Doctor of Psychology/Health Care Master of Business Administration
The curriculum for the Doctor of Psychology/Health Care Master of Business Administration (PsyD/ MBA in Health Care) dual degree educates students to enter health care organizations as competent leaders who can navigate the human and business aspects of health care management, balancing both in order to make effective decisions. The Master of Business Administration in Health Care Administration
The Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Health Care Administration Concentration provides a curriculum of study to advance the personal and career goals of working professionals with the skills and knowledge to pursue careers of leadership and management. All courses for the program are offered during evening hours, Monday through Thursday with some offered on Saturday morning. Courses are taught in small sections, by full-time faculty, many of whom have significant business experience and are actively involved in consulting.
