The 52-credit Master of Science in Healthcare Management (MS) focus is preparing those working professionals managing within in the healthcare industry. Students are required to participate in classes two weekends per term with the balance of the courses offered online. Certification in Healthcare Management

The Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management is designed for those professionals working in administration, reimbursement, or management roles within healthcare organizations. Curriculum provides students with more healthcare-focused business skills. The 24-credit certificate program provides an overview of financial, policy, and organizational and operational environment of healthcare. Students gain the skills for designing and managing organizations in the delivery of healthcare. Coursework in the certificate program can transfer directly into the MS in Healthcare Management Degree. Students with a traditional MBA may pursue the graduate certificate in Healthcare Management to gain higher-level healthcare specific management skills.

Oregon State University

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences

Founded in 1868, Oregon State University is a public coed research university located in Corvallis, Oregon. Oregon State, also referred to as OSU, is the state’s largest public research with 11 colleges, 15 Agricultural Experiment Stations and the Hatfield Marine Science Center. OSU awards more than 200 undergraduate academic programs and more than 100 masters degree programs in the Schools of Business, Engineering and Education. Master of Public Health

Oregon State University offers the Master of Public Health (MPH) with six optional areas of concentration. Students in the MPH program are required to participate in a field experience to further their learning. The Master of Public Health (MPH) in Biostatistics requires completion of at least 61 credits including: 17 credits of public health core courses, 25 credits of required options courses, 13 credits of electives and 6 credits of field experience. Competencies for the MPH in Biostatistics include the following abilities:

  • Define the roles that biostatistics serves in discipline of public health
  • Understand the core concepts of probability, random variation and commonly used statistical probability distribution
  • Show the selected methodological alternatives to commonly used statistical methods when assumptions are not met
  • Distinguish different measurement scales and their implications in choosing statistical methods to be used based on these distinction
  • Descriptive and graphical techniques used in summarizing public health data
  • Applications of statistical methods for inference

Master of Public Health in Environmental and Occupational Health

The Master of Public Health in Environmental and Occupational Health provides students with a core foundation in exposure assessment, toxicology and risk management strategies. The curriculum allows students to develop interdisciplinary understanding in solving domestic and international problems in occupational health and safety as well as environmental health. Competencies for graduates of the MPH in Environmental and Occupational Health include the following abilities:

  • Identification and assessment of major environmental and occupational health hazards impacting workers and the general population
  • Communication of appropriate strategy in preventing and controlling environmental and occupational health hazards

Master of Public Health in Epidemiology

The Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology program is specifically designed for students to develop their epidemiologic skills in applied settings including international health, health departments, non-government agencies, the CDC and WHO field programs. Students are also well prepared to enter doctoral training in epidemiology or other doctoral and professional training. Competencies for Graduates of the MPH in Epidemiology include the following abilities:

  • Identify public health problems specific to the population and identify key relevant sources of data
  • Understand and apply basic terms, measurements and methods used in epidemiology

The Master of Public Health (MPH) in International Health programs curriculum prepares students for public health leadership roles in international health that emphasizes health development in middle and low-income nations. Oregon State University Cascade is a branch campus of the Oregon State University and is located in Bend, Oregon. Pacific University

The College of Business

Established as Tualatin Academy in 1849, Pacific University is a small private coed university located in Forest Grove, Oregon. The University awards degrees in over 65 undergrad fields of study as well as 16 graduate programs through their four campuses including the College of Arts & Sciences, Optometry, Education, Health Professions and Business. Master of Business Administration

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Pacific University is designed for students with a variety of backgrounds to strengthen their core business knowledge to enter careers as leaders in their chosen field of employment. Coursework provides students with in-depth business knowledge in supply chain, accounting, finance and organizational behavior. Courses for the MBA program are offered on alternating weekends, with classes on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday. The MBA requires completion of 39 credits and includes 27 credits of core courses and 12 credits of elective courses. Electives for the program include the following areas of study:

  1. Healthcare Delivery Design and Innovation – The focus of this elective course is preparing students to enter careers as the next generation of healthcare professionals equipped with the skills and knowledge critical to successful leadership. The course provides a study of designing new care delivery services and experiences.
  2. Health Economics – The course studies Economics as a systematic way of thinking about use of resources as applied to issues of organization, delivery, financing and outcome of healthcare. The program studies economics principles and provides students with a better understanding of the system of health care financing and delivery in the United States. Students are prepared with the skills needed to analyze health management and policy options.
