Marist College

The School of Management

Marist College is a coed private college with a current enrollment of 5,566 students. Founded in 1905, Marist was established by the Marist Brothers, a Catholic Religious Institute of Brothers, to prepare brothers for their vocations as educators. Molloy College

The Graduate Business Department

Founded in 1955 by the Dominican Sisters as a women’s university, Malloy College is an independent private coed, college. Malloy is located less than an hour from Manhattan and is one of the most affordable private colleges on Long Island Rockville Centre, New York. Molloy provides a liberal arts education with more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs. In 2015, US News and World Report ranked Molloy College 41st for North Regional Universities. New York University (NYU) is a member institution of the Association of American Universities. Master of Public Health with Epidemiology Concentration

The mission for the concentration in epidemiology is to train public health professionals to analyze and understand distribution, determinants, and control of disease in the advancement of population health. The curriculum trains students with core understanding of the principles of epidemiology and fundamentals of public health. Students have the opportunity for research projects to expose them to public health issues from different specialty areas. Coursework for the concentration in epidemiology includes social networking and crowdsourcing in a domestic and global setting, social determinants of health, specifically as they apply to social epidemiology. Specific goals of the program are preparing health professionals to be skilled in:

  • Identifying determinants of disease including individual, social, and structural determinants of morbidity and mortality trends across populations
  • Identification of chronic, infectious, and degenerative diseases that contribute morbidity within populations
  • Understanding trends in mortality due to infectious, chronic and degenerative diseases across populations
  • Design literature review analyzing epidemiological literature on a given topic to use in the development of a research question to formulate testable hypotheses

  • Demonstrate appropriate analytical methods to calculate key measures of morbidity, mortality and measures of association
  • Understanding of standard practices employed in data entry and data management needed in ensuring the integrity of study results
  • Identify analytic approaches using relevant statistical software packages for the management and analysis of data
  • Show findings of an epidemiologic investigation to lay and professional audiences
  • Present findings of an epidemiologic report to both lay and professional audiences at conferences and scientific meetings

The Global Health Leadership Concentration prepares students for leadership careers in public health settings globally. Goals of the program are preparing global public health students with the following competencies:

  • Design and implement effective global health programs, projects, and policies based on strong population-based evidence

Competencies of the Public Health Nutrition concentration are the following:

  • Identification and assessment of diet related health problems including under nutrition and over nutrition in diverse populations in this country and globally.
  • Identify the social, cultural, economic, environmental, and institutional factors contributing to risks of under nutrition and over nutrition among populations
  • Show associations between agriculture, food, nutrition, and public health
  • Develop educational, institutional, and other population-based intervention strategies to improve food security and reduce obesity

  • Promote policy needed to safeguard the safe production, distribution, and consumption of food

Master of Public Health with Social and Behavioral Sciences

The Social and Behavioral Sciences emphasis focuses on the social, behavioral, and structural determinants of health. Students are equipped to work on research and evaluation projects drawing on the social and behavioral sciences. Competencies for the program include:

  • Apply theory, concepts and models from social and behavioral disciplines used in research and practice in public health
