The mission of Roseman Universities Master of Business Administration (MBA) program as stated by the school is “preparing students to become Competent Business Professionals, Responsible Leaders, Entrepreneurial Manager and Effective Communicators”. The “Fast Track” MBA program is a flexible option for those students who have limited time to earn a Master’s Degree. Student teams develop strategic, marketing, operational and financial plans for a product or service and these business plans will be developed throughout the entire program. The learning opportunities provided by coursework allow students to develop the skills and knowledge required in future careers. Key entrepreneurial skills are provided to become leaders need to start a company or to help an existing business to successfully launch new products and services, improve existing products and services, find new applications and markets for existing products and services. Roseman University offers evening and daytime classes and the full MBA curriculum consists of 13 courses that are 3 credit hours each. For completion of the MBA program, students are required to satisfactorily complete 39 credit hours.

School of Community Health Sciences

Founded in 1874, The University of Nevada Reno (also referred to as UNR) is the state of Nevada’s first public university and is located on the border between the Great Basin and the Sierra Nevada on the western edge of the state. In 2015, US News and World Report ranked this campus of the University of Nevada as the 194th Best National University.  The School of Community Health Sciences (SCHS) at the University of Nevada Reno, formerly known as the School of Public Health, was established in 2004 and remains dedicated in improving the health and well being of people worldwide. Students experience a diverse education, practical training experiences through numerous community involvement opportunities in preparing for careers as leaders and professionals in the Public Health field. Master of Public Health

Public health is the science of protecting and improving the health of communities through education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, and research for disease and injury prevention. Goals for the MPH are to “develop, distribute, and apply knowledge with an ecological approach to protect and promote the health of populations statewide and worldwide”. This mission is carried out through the following goals:

  1. Preparing future public health practitioners, researchers, educators and leaders.
  2. Developing core knowledge for public health through research.
  3. Engaging with multiple communities through service.
  4. Exposing students to diversity in multiple settings.
  5. Recognition for leadership in innovative approaches to public health.

The Master of Public Health degree (MPH) consists of a 45-credit program including a core curriculum and specializations in epidemiology or social and behavioral health. All students are required to complete a 3-6-credit capstone project resulting in a 45-credit degree program.

Concentrations include:

  1. Epidemiology – This is the fundamental science underlying public health and the study of distribution and determinants of health, disease, injuries, and disability in populations. The focus of the Epidemiology concentration is providing students the skills necessary for careers in descriptive and analytic epidemiology using a wide range of public health issues including: infectious disease, chronic disease, health care delivery, social and behavioral health, environmental health, and occupational health. Coursework allows students the ability to properly use methods to plan, implement, and conduct epidemiologic research. Students choose 12 credits from the following (three credit) courses: Environmental Toxicology, Transmission Disease, Food Safety, Environmental Justice, Research Methods and Scientific/Tech Writing
  2. Social and Behavioral Health examines the psychological, behavioral, social, cultural, and institutional factors affecting both individual and population health. This concentration provides basic skills and knowledge for students to understand health promotion, health education, and the prevention and reduction of health disparities over the life course. Researchers and practitioners of Social/behavioral health solve public health problems through public health policy, services, and interventions for individuals, families, community, and society at large. Students are prepared to apply health promotion and behavior change theories in designing, implementing, and evaluating public health policies and programs. Students are required to complete the following three credit courses for the 12 credit Social and Behavioral Health Concentration: Theoretical Foundations of Health Promotion, Program Planning, Program Evaluation in Public Health and Applied Research Methods in Public Health.
