Healthcare Master of Business Administration

The Healthcare Master of Business Administration (Health MBA) allows students to gain insight into the political, social, economic, and technical aspects of the current U.S. healthcare industry. Coursework includes disease and its causes, structure and process of Healthcare organizations, Healthcare delivery systems, financing in HealthCare, substance abuse and mental health services, disparities in racial, ethnic and socioeconomic groups, and healthcare role in social change. Graduates of the Healthcare MBA program will have the ability to deal with the issues facing the Healthcare System including:

  • Ongoing changes and evolution in managed care
  • Concentration of institutions and insurers
  • Awareness of the impact on health of behavior and lifestyle

Coursework includes fifty-two credits of core courses required for an MBA, eight credit hours of specialized courses including Issues in National Health Policy and Management of Healthcare Organizations and four credits in consultation with a faculty advisor. Additionally, students are required to complete a Tram Consulting Project (TCP) at a local health service organization.

Dual Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in International Health Policy and Management

The Dual Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in International Health Policy and Management at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management is a top ten school of social policy and maintains a mission to: “provide passionate and committed individuals from around the world with advanced knowledge and skills for significant roles in social change”. The program has committed itself to fighting poverty, improving health policy, protecting the environment, increasing community development and resolving conflict while protecting the rights of women, children, and minorities. Heller’s multidisciplinary approach to education prepares students for careers, which help, find solutions to society’s most pressing social problems. The MBA/MS program allows students skills in dealing with management issues facing organizations that continue to help the underserved and vulnerable populations while attempting to improve social and health outcomes. The two-year (sixty-four credit hours) program takes five consecutive semesters.

Dual Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Policy

The Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Policy (MBA/MPP) dual degree allows
students interested in pursuing careers requiring expertise in policy making and the skills necessary to successfully manage an organization. Graduates are prepared to enter careers in public service, nonprofit and the private sector. The school’s mission is “preparing passionate and committed
individuals from around the world with advanced knowledge and skills for significant roles in social
change. Students will strive to work toward ending poverty, improving health policy, protecting the
environment, spurring community development, resolving conflict or protecting the rights of women,
children and minorities”. Curriculum for the MBA/MPP dual degree requires completion of 102 credit hours taken over six semesters,
including one summer. Students are required to complete both the MBA Team Consulting
Project (TCP) and the MPP Capstone Paper. Students may begin with either the MBA or the MPP.

Brandeis University

School of Graduate Professional Studies

The Division of Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) at Brandeis is a part of the Rabb School of Continuing Studies, one of the four graduate schools at Brandeis University. GPS guides busy working professionals in building the skills they will need for careers in the global healthcare marketplace. GPS courses are Internet-based and flexible, with weekly assignments and participation requirements, but students are not required specific times to be online. Most students can fully participate regardless of their location or schedule. Classes follow a ten-week schedule for courses and students can maintain contact with their instructors and peers daily via bulletin board, chat rooms, email, assignment tools and other benefits of a customized learning management system.

Clark University

College of Professional and Continuing Education

Located in Worcester Massachusetts, Clark University is a small private liberal arts institution founded in 1887. Clark University with eleven other colleges and universities makes up the Higher Education Consortium of Central Massachusetts. Master of Public Administration

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) Degree Program is designed to prepare students for advancement in their careers in public service to build strong healthy communities and work effectively and efficiently with private partners and not-for-profit and public sector organizations. To allow flexibility in learning style for those working professionals, courses are scheduled during the evening or on Saturday mornings. Some seminars are required to facilitate close working relationships among students and faculty and blend of theory and practical application. Typically students in the MPA program have three to five years of work-related experience and at least one year of administrative level employment. A supervised internship is required for those students who do not have sufficient work experience. Areas of specialization are available in the following areas:

Framingham State University
