Master of Health Administration
The flexible Master of Health Administration (MHA) program is structured to fit the scheduling needs of students with both full or part time options available. Another benefit is that 85 percent of the curriculum can be completed online, students are only required to complete three five-day on-campus sessions. Graduates of the MHA program possess the specialized business and management skills necessary to pursue careers in the Healthcare field. With a unique focus on leadership development, curriculum was designed to build a strong foundation in aspects of administration of health services with a range of topics, including health economics, strategic management, industrial systems, organizational behavior, group dynamics and health law. For completion of the program, student must also complete a Capstone Project addressing health administration issues facing their workplace or another health care organization.
Master of Public Health
Public health professionals are those individuals that will protect individuals, families, and communities from health threats while promoting wellness. The online MPH program at Des Moines University allows those working professionals to gain the knowledge and skills in the Public Health field. Curriculum for the Master’s program is based on practical, problem-based method and utilizes full-time and part-time faculty from the local professional healthcare community to provide combination of theory and experience. A MPH degree provides students the opportunity for executive management positions in public health. Curriculum for the program is competency based emphasizing practical knowledge applicable to the eight competencies identified by public health professionals:
