The College of Osteopathic Medicine

Located in Broward County, Nova Southeastern University (often referred to as Nova), is a private, coed, non-sectarian, research university with its main campus in Fort Lauderdale. The College of Osteopathic Medicine is part of the Health Professions Division, located on twenty-one acres and with an enrollment of over 2000 students. This school was the first osteopathic medical school to be established in the Southeastern United States. The College of Osteopathic medicine grants Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree, EMS Education and Training, Master of Science in Medical Informatics, and Master of Public Health.

Master of Public Health

With increased environmental health concerns, new reforms within the healthcare system, socio-political factors affecting the health and healthcare systems, and the expanding heath issues global in range, the growing need for qualified public health professionals continues to grow each year. Those with this accredited Master of Public Health degrees can fill those positions of responsibility in settings such as Healthcare facilities, local and state departments of health, colleges and universities, health agencies and in the corporate world.

Nova Southeastern offers an online option that will allow flexibility for those already in a career while providing a program to acquire the knowledge base and skill to promote health while defining and assessing public health problems. Students choosing the online program complete the program online but are required to participate in a weekend orientation and exit seminar as well as a weekend seminar at the end of the program. Options are available to pursue advancement in graduate program after completion of MPH program. A full time student may complete the 42 credit program in as little as two years

Saint Leo University

The School of Business

Located in Saint Leo, Florida, thirty five miles north of Tampa, Saint Leo University is a private Roman Catholic Liberal Arts College. It is the oldest Catholic college in the state of Florida, and it is the sixth largest Catholic College in the country. Saint Leo University was one of the first universities in the country to provide distance learning to students, starting with the goal of educating military personnel during the Vietnam War era. With an enrollment of 2,167 students at the main Florida campus, Saint Leo University had a worldwide enrollment of 15,932 students in 2012. The majority of these students were military-related students. In 2011, U.S. News and World Report ranked Saint Leo University as one of the “Top Universities in the South”. Master of Business Administration Healthcare Management Concentration

The School of Business offers an online Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree with a concentration in Healthcare Management. This program allows students to gain the professional skills and experiences to become a successful manager in the Healthcare marketplace. MBA Courses include core business fundamentals, communication skills for success in the business environment, team building through leadership in work partnering, making ethical and economically responsible decisions in business, the ability to use technology applicable to management issues and the implications of economy facing business in the current marketplace.

University of Central Florida

The College of Health and Public Affairs – Department of Health Management and Informatics

Located in Orlando Florida, The University of Central Florida, also known as UCF, is a metropolitan public research university and a member of State University System of Florida. UCF is the second largest university in the country by enrollment and the 2014 enrollment included almost 60,000 students. The university offers over 200 degree options through twelve colleges and twelve satellite campuses throughout Florida. UCF has awarded almost 250,000 degrees, including 45,000 graduate, specialist and professional degrees. According to U.S. News & World Report (2014 issue), seven of the college’s graduate programs rank in the top 100 nationwide in their respective disciplines.

The Department of Health Management and Informatics at UCF offers academic programs in health management to prepare students for the constant change within the health care industry. Courses are available in classroom, online and mixed mode (combined classroom and online) formats. Master of Science in Health Informatics

The online Master of Science in Healthcare Informatics Degree Program is designed for working professionals seeking growth in their career within a field improving patient care and quality outcomes. The curriculum allows the student to integrate technology, healthcare and business. The Master’s program is a full-time, graduate program and is designed for completion in twenty months.

  • Experiencing internships with community partners to gain real world knowledge of serving within the healthcare organization to allow them to make improvements in healthcare delivery system.

The program is offered through an entirely online, distance-learning format, allowing easier access. The Health Services Administration Graduate Program is one of approximately 70 programs in the world that are fully accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME). The MSHS-HAS degree is awarded after completing required pre-requisite courses and forty-four credits of graduate study
